The Home
Our experience in running Spring Mount has reinforced our belief that people with dementia are perfectly capable of leading normal, happy lives provided that the environment is designed to meet their needs, rather than expecting them to fit into environmental limitations. We have been continually surprised at the achievements of our residents whose determination to succeed in leading normal lives has filled us with admiration for their dignity and courage.
Our Values
We created Spring Mount in 1987 with one simple philosophy; to care for people with dementia without the dehumanising effects created by the administration of sedating medication.
We believe that people with dementia will function at a higher level, and their intellect will remain accessible if tranquillisers are not used.
Why Springmount
We come under continual pressure to explain how and
why our philosophy works for us. After all we have no magic formula, the whole team sees what they do as common sense or just good sense. But these demands have given us the opportunity to explore the way we have put our theories into practice and evaluate just what it is that we do managerially that allows the positive environment to thrive.
